The Faculty of Law of Comenius University Bratislava (PraF UK) and the Faculty of Informatics and Information Technologies of the Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava (FIIT STU) cordially invite you to an expert workshop held under the auspices of the APVV-23-0519 project Legal and Technical Challenges of Smart Mobility to Increase Road Traffic Safety (COSMITS).
The workshop will take place on Wednesday, 11 November 2026, from 9:00 to 13:00 at FIIT STU, Room 1.65 – Aula Minor, Ilkovičova 2, Bratislava.

Programme:
9:00 – 9:15 Opening and Welcome (PraF UK)
9:15 – 9:40 Keynote Speaker (FIIT STU)
9:40 – 10:40 Workshop I: Automated Vehicles on Slovak Roads: Law, Technology and Business
10:40 – 11:00 Coffee Break
11:00 – 12:00 Workshop II: Traffic Accidents Involving Automated Vehicles – Data Collection and Preservation
12:00 – 13:00 Lunch

Workshop I: Automated Vehicles on Slovak Roads: Law, Technology and Business
What determines whether automated vehicles make it from testing into everyday operation? The discussion will bring together legal, technical and business perspectives on the conditions for their deployment in Slovakia. It will focus on demonstrating safety, the limits of the technology’s capabilities, the role of the human, and the predictability of regulatory requirements. The panellists will also address the new Act No. 248/2026 Coll. and its significance for the testing and operation of automated vehicles and for the provision of transport services using them. Attention will also be paid to how legal and technical requirements affect costs, investment decisions and business opportunities. Drawing on concrete examples, the panellists will seek to answer the question of what developers, operators and public authorities need so that a technically feasible solution can be used safely and sustainably in practice.

Participants:

Workshop II: Traffic Accidents Involving Automated Vehicles – Data Collection and Preservation
Who should collect data from an automated vehicle in the event of a traffic accident, and when? What data should be collected? The discussion will bring together legal and technical perspectives on preserving and collecting data from automated vehicles involved in traffic accidents. The panellists will examine what data is generated in a traffic accident and what legal and technical requirements apply to its collection. They will also seek to answer the question of what law enforcement authorities, forensic experts and manufacturers themselves need in this area.

Dear residents,
On Tuesday, 10 November, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., and on Wednesday, 11 November, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., the water supply at the Married Couples’ Dormitory will be temporarily interrupted. The interruption is necessary due to the planned replacement of the main shut-off valves and a faulty secondary water meter.
Please keep all taps fully closed throughout the interruption. When the water supply is restored and the system pressure stabilises, open taps could cause an uncontrolled water leak, potentially resulting in flooding and property damage.
We apologise for any inconvenience and thank you for your understanding.

Abstract:
Gamma rays emitted by excited nuclei provide a window into their structure. The Advanced GAmma Tracking Array (AGATA) combines highly segmented HPGe detectors, pulse-shape analysis and gamma-ray tracking to reconstruct photon interaction sequences, enabling precise spectroscopy of moving nuclei. This seminar will introduce the principles and core features of AGATA and present an overview of its experimental campaign at INFN Legnaro National Laboratories. Selected examples will illustrate how AGATA, coupled to complementary detectors, open new avenues of probing nuclear structure. With Slovakia joining the AGATA collaboration, the seminar will also highlight opportunities for participation in physics research and detector and electronics development. New collaborators interested in contributing to these activities are warmly welcome.

Maruša Lekše:
Symmetry type graphs of abstract polytopes

Abstract:
We will talk about symmetry type graphs of abstract polytopes, that is, quotients of their flag graphs by their full automorphism groups. These are edge-colored graphs that must satisfy some immediate necessary conditions. The symmetry type graph conjecture says that these conditions are also sufficient (whenever an edge-colored graph satisfies these conditions, it is the symmetry type graph of some abstract polytope). We will discuss some results for this conjecture in low ranks.

First Aid Training in English Reached Beyond the Walls of JFMED CU

First aid training focused on cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) has now extended beyond the walls...

During two teaching sessions, the high school students were introduced to the basic principles of providing first aid in cases of sudden cardiac arrest and had the opportunity to practice the correct technique of cardiopulmonary resuscitation. The training also included hands-on practice using a manikin equipped with computer-generated feedback, enabling objective assessment of CPR quality, including the rate and depth of chest compressions.
Public education in first aid is becoming increasingly important. In Slovakia, the network of publicly accessible Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) is gradually expanding. At the same time, efforts are underway to develop digital tools and mobile applications that could in the future facilitate the rapid activation of trained volunteers located near an emergency scene, thereby strengthening the individual links in the chain of survival. Early recognition of cardiac arrest, prompt activation of emergency services, immediate initiation of CPR, and the use of an AED significantly increase a patient’s chances of survival.
Many of the workshop participants may one day become students of medical faculties or other healthcare programmes. Practical experience in providing first aid can therefore equip them with valuable knowledge even before they begin their university studies. An additional benefit of the event was that the training was conducted in English, allowing students to develop their medical terminology and communication skills in a professional context.
At the same time, the Jessenius Faculty of Medicine creates opportunities for international students to actively participate in educational activities for the public. Educational experience shows that one of the most effective ways of learning is by sharing acquired knowledge with others. Students who have completed certified first aid courses can reinforce their own knowledge, develop teaching and communication skills, and contribute to improving health literacy within the region. Such activities benefit all parties involved: schools gain access to innovative educational experiences, while medical students have the opportunity to apply their knowledge in practice.
The activity was conducted under the supervision of Prof. Jana Plevková, Director of the Simulation Centre of JFMED CU, who has long supported innovation in education and the strengthening of links between the university environment and the needs of the local community.

Radovan Gregor:
Mirroring mechanisms for trustworthy human-robot interaction

Abstract:
The discovery of neurons in the premotor cortex of macaque monkeys that activates both when the animal performs a goal-directed action and when it observes another individual performing the same action suggests that the brain contains a system that “mirrors” the actions of others. This system became known as the Mirror Neuron System (MNS) (Rizzolatti G., 1992). The finding proposes that action perception and action execution share a common neural representation. Understanding what another agent is doing may then rest on the observer’s own motor repertoire, not on a separate visual analysis. The idea has strongly influenced our view of the neural basis of social cognition, imitation and intention understanding.
Inspired by the MNS, we propose an architecture for motor-primitive discovery and action recognition on the NICO humanoid robot. The central premise is that the robot should interpret an observed movement through the same compact motor representation it uses to produce movement.
