UTA in Slovakia and Abroad
Currently, the education of seniors takes place at 18 universities in 13 cities all over Slovakia, with the total number of students reaching 7200. These universities form the Slovak Association of the Universities of the Third Age (ASUTV), established on December 1st in Kosice. The Association currently resides on University of Zilina, where representatives of the participating universities meet to discuss methodical, organizational and economic questions regarding seniors' education.
The Center for Continuing Education and its UTA is also a member of the International Association of the UTA (AIUTA - www.aiu3a.org). Member since 1993, we have gained a seat on its committee in 2000. AIUTA resides in Toulouse and connects UTAs from all over the world, facilitating information exchange between participants. The association also holds an international conference every 2 years and provides international partnerships, contacts and participation in multinational research.
UTA is also a member of the European Federation of Older Students at the Universities (EFOS) since 1993. Representatives of European universities meet regularly (twice per year) to work on common projects and publish the federation's bulletin EFOS NEWS. PhDr. Nadežda Hrapková, PhD., UTA's representative in EFOS also serves as its president. EFOS' secretary general is currently PhDr. Katarína Grunwald, one of our students. At present we coordinate the European project ERASMUS+ Educational Senior Network realising the project tasks with other 6 European partners. More information about our projects are available on our site European projects.
